School Street Yoga and Fitness strives to be a place of practice for people of different bodies, abilities and ages.
Yoga is a lifestyle. It's universal. It's inclusive. We at SSYF believe that everyBody is a yogaBody. Knowing to move in a way that works best for you is key to an enriching yoga practice.
Open in the Fall of 2018, School Street Yoga and Fitness offers a variety of yoga, barre and fitness classes.
Having a healthy body requires a healthy mind, as well as an emotional well-being. Therefore, making the connection between mind and body will be key to improving overall health.
No matter what class you venture into at SSYF, safety and comfort level is important.
The use of props are welcomed and modifications will be provided. Please take care of yourself and hydrate before, during and after class. Listen to the body.
Monday @ 6:00 pm
Begin your practice with a vinyasa sequence to increase your flexibility, then add barre moves to tone and sculpt your muscles. What a way to include leg lifts to your warrior III pose! Lengthen the body through breath, balance, movement and end with a full body stretch.
Tuesday @ 6:00 pm
Let's get moving in this all-levels, moderately paced flow that includes a mix of yoga styles and a good range of poses. Modifications and variations are offered to accommodate your level of experience. For the beginner student and advanced yogi that want to elevate their practice. Come and experience this fun and energizing class!
Wednesday @ 6:15 pm
Inhale....Exhale... Prepare to move at a slower pace focusing on alignment, bringing awareness to the body and breath as you move through simple transitions in this basic flow. This class is geared towards the newer student and advanced yogi that want to fine tune their practice. Modifications for each pose will be provided to best suit your needs.
Sunday @ 9:00 am
Be prepared to sweat, sculpt and move through traditional yoga poses that incorporate light weights fused with fitness regimes such as pilates or cardio strength training to enhance the practice. An upbeat music playlist will keep you moving in a warm room. All levels are welcome.
Gentle Restorative Yoga
Every Other Sunday @ 6:00 pm
Best of both worlds. First, let it go as you stretch and connect the body through breath and gentle movements. Next, take it easy as you transition into nurturing deep relaxing restorative poses supported by blocks, bolsters and blankets. Finally, take a minute to pause, breathe, clear the mind and appreciate stillness as you surrender to a candlelit scenery and soft music.

This all-levels class is inspired by the grace of ballet, balance of yoga and core strength of Pilates. In this low impact workout, be prepared to move with music as you combine high repetition, isometric holds and small controlled movements with the use of the ballet barre, mini exercise balls, light weights, resistance bands, and your own body weight to tone and strengthen the entire body.

This Zumba class is designed for the active older adult or anyone starting a new fitness routine who is looking for a fun energetic, dance-based low impact workout. It is a modified class that recreates the original Zumba moves at a lower intensity. Come and move your feet to the feel good Latin and international rhythms such as salsa, merengue, cumbia, swing, tango and more!
