Welcome to School Street Yoga and Fitness. We love our space and are glad to share it with you. Our studio has been put together with the support and love from those dearest to us. As you walk through our door, we hope you feel good vibes and leave with positive energy. That said, we ask that our students help us in making SSYF continue to bloom, grow and be safe by taking care of yourself and our space for all to be able to practice in comfortably. 


What should I expect when I arrive at the studio?

First of all, Welcome! Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes early to sign in, put your belongings away and set up your space before you settle onto your mat. When you arrive for class, we ask that you take off your shoes and place them on the shoe racks provided for our students. We provide mats and props but you can use your own mat, if you prefer. Please bring a towel and water.


Where should I park?

Free parking is available in the municipal lot directly across the street. Please be mindful and use the crosswalk. Safety first.


Is it okay to eat before class?

It is best to avoid eating a big meal two hours before class. Make sure you are fueled and definitely hydrated!


What should I do with my cell phone?

Please be courteous and turn off your cell phone. You can place it with the rest of your belongings. This will allow you to unplug yourself from any distractions and allow you to be present.


What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can stretch, sweat and move in freely. Avoid loose fitting clothes that can rise over your head during Downward Facing Dog as well as perfumes/lotions, or any scents that can be distracting to others. We usually practice barefoot depending on the class; For yoga, barefoot is best and it’s what we recommend as it is easier to grip the mat and move in your space with ease. However, you can practice yoga and barre with non slip grip socks. Totally up to you!


What if I'm running late?

If you are running late, no worries, we all know things happen. Since the classes are an hour long, please arrive no later than 5 minutes after class has started. We ask that you quietly enter the studio, and put your things away. After meditation, transition onto your mat and participate in the practice.


What if I need to leave early?

We ask that you stay for the entire time and try not to leave early. Savasana is the final resting pose that calms your mind and body after a good practice. If you have to leave early, please inform us prior to the beginning of class and place your mat closest to the door to avoid disturbing others.


Please help us keep things tidy by putting away all props and wiping down anything you have used. Cleaning wipes are available.
